BALO starts, the first train to Europe has departed
The first privately funded freight train has departed from Anatolia to Europe as a part of the Great Anatolia Logistics Organizations Inc., representing a partnership of 93 entities from the affiliated chambers and exchanges of TOBB. Speaking at the departure of the first train, attended by the Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communication Minister Binali Yıldırım, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that the project will increase the competitive power of the Turkish private sector and said, “The transportation network is like the circulatory system of the body. If the veins fail to work the system will become blocked. If the transportation network is defunct in a country, the economy will not grow.”

We all have a duty in solving problems
The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu visited the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Commodity Exchange in Akhisar as a part of his Manisa visit. Stating that everyone has a duty in solving the problems Turkey faces, Hisarcıklıoğlu gave a message of unity and solidarity.

Women entrepreneurs increase by 20,000 in the last year
Attending the protocol ceremony of the entrepreneurship training program run by the İzmir Commodity Exchange (İZTB), TOBB İzmir Province Women Entrepreneurs Council and DEÜ Management Faculty, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “In the last year, the number of women entrepreneurs has increased by 20,000 in comparison to last year and I feel very proud as someone who contributed to this endeavor.”

We have a duty to keep Turkey together
Speaking at the İzmir Chamber of Commerce (İZTO) Profession Committees Joint Meeting, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Just like the businessmen in Germany and France in WWII, we have a duty as the cement of society, the representative of the middle column, to keep Turkey together.”

EUROCHAMBRES representatives met with Minister Yazıcı at TOBB
Hosted by TOBB President and EUROCHAMBRES Vice President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Customs and Commerce Minister Hayati Yazıcı met with the chamber union presidents of the member states of the European Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (EUROCHAMBRES). Speaking prior to Minister Yazıcı’s address at the dinner hosted at the TOBB Union Center, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu drew attention to the EUROCHAMBRES Economy Forum which will be held in October in İstanbul, saying, “This Forum will be a veritable business summit for all attending countries, chambers and companies.”

New members are not the cause of the crisis, they are victims of it
Speaking at the Joint Members Committee Meeting of EUROCHAMBRES held at the TOBB Union Center, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the reason for the current economic crisis isn’t the expansion of the EU, but rather the lack of sufficient regulation in financial markets. Also touching on the matter of the Syrian crisis, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The Syrian crisis especially shows us the importance of persuading countries close to ours to change. The process of change should be directed in a way that includes the capitals. Otherwise, it will harbor within it the possibility of failure.”

Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan visited TOBB
Members of the newly elected TOBB Board of Directors lead by M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Strategy Development High Council and the High Council for Coordination hosted Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan. Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out the importance put on arbitration in the real and private sectors while Ali Babacan evaluated the developments in the global economy in the last three and a half months and the effects thereof on the economy of Turkey.

TOBB reelected to UNWTO vice presidency
