Full support for Turkey’s EU membership from TATSO

The TOBB Turkish-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TATSO) Business Dinner was held with TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu hosting the event. Hisarcıklıoğlu, emphasizing that the two countries put great importance on the development of bilateral economic relations and while the Customs and Commerce Minister, Hayati Yazıcı, said that the environment of trust necessary for investment is present in Turkey. TATSO President Rolf A. Königs said, “EU cannot go on without Turkey. A privileged partnership is unacceptable. This needs to be full membership.”​

Customs and Commerce Minister Hayati Yazıcı stated that they put great importance on the business community and attempt to solve issues through arbitration. Expressing his belief in trust and stability in Turkey, Yazıcı reported that their bilateral trade volume has reached 27 billion USD this year stressing the need for Germany to increase the sale of its goods which is at a lower level than that of Turkey.

 

TATSO President Rolf A. Königs stated in his speech that they support Turkey full membership to the EU and said, “Turkey is a country of limitless opportunities. We view Turkey as extremely important for the whole region.”

 

TATSO Vice President and Founding President Engin Koyuncu reported that they have contributed to the growth of Turkish-German trade volume.
