Norwegian Ambassador Kanavin visited TOBB

Norway’s Ambassador to Turkey, Janis Bjorn Kanavin, visited TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu at his office. During the meeting wherein an exchange of ideas in regards to the development of cooperation between the two countries, the importance of establishing a business council was emphasized.​

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu, reminding that the EUROCHAMBRES General Assembly would be held on the 15th and 16th of October in İstanbul, provided information regarding this event to the Ambassador who was visiting TOBB for the first time. Explaining the operational structure of TOBB and DEİK, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “TOBB is the umbrella organization of the Turkish business world. We are especially active in Central Asia, the Middle East and the Balkans. In regards to Africa, we have established the Turkish-African Chamber along with UACCIAP under DEİK. UACCIAP forms a shared foundation between African countries. I am also the Vice President in the Islamic Chamber which covers 57 Islamic countries.” Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they are prepared to work together in third countries in addition to furthering their cooperation.

Norway’s Ambassador to Turkey, Janis Bjorn Kanavin stressed the importance a business council in increasing trade and expressed his happiness for the establishment of Turkey’s new office of the commerce counselor in Oslo.

 

Stating that they need to be active in EUROCHAMBRES which also represents the private sector of Norway, Kanavin said, “In regards to EXPO, we will support you just as we support İzmir.”

 

Stating that the bilateral trade between the two countries is low, Ambassador Kanavin emphasized the possibility of working together in third countries and that they are especially open to working together in Africa. Praising the courage of Turkish entrepreneurs, Ambassador Janis Bjorn Kanavin said, “It is possible to work together in Africa in the fields of infrastructure and energy production.”
