European Movement International (EMI) ISTANBUL Congress / 11 – 12 February 2011

European Movement International (EMI) is established in 1948 and since then working on the relations between civil society organisations and public authorities, especially in the countries neighboring the European Union and on its dialogue with the respective public authorities. In this context the EMI has launched a discourse with Civil Society Organisations through two founding congresses:  Algiers in 2006 for the Maghreb countries and Egypt; Ljubljana in 2009 for the Western Balkan countries and Turkey.  ​ ​

We have made total contribution worth 72 million liras in 45 states in educational field

The President of the Union of the Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu spoke in the ceremony which is held by the Governorship of Rize for the handovering of Rize Science High School, its public housing and students’ hostel. He said that they had made total contribution worth 72 million liras in 45 states in educational field.​ ​

We need to break down the logic of cheapest tender offer, will get the job

The president of TOBB expressed that Contracting Services in Turkey has some problems with tender system in Turkey which KİK could solve them easily. Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that the understanding of lowest price offer system reduces the profit and quality and it has to be changed. ​ ​

Crown Prince of Bahrain’s visit to Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges to Turkey The Crown Prince of Bahrain Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, visited Turkey between the dates  8- 10 February 2011 to conduct official meetings. In this context he attended the Working Breakfast held at Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) on 9th March 2011 in Ankara, Turkey.   ​ ​

Turkish Entrepreneurs’ right for chamber elections and voting in Austria

A great opportunity for the 4.000 companies run by Turkish citizen in Austria was seized. The way was opened for entrepreneurs in Austria irrespective of Austrian or Turkish citizenship to vote and also candidate for elections of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This kind of right is the first of its kind in Europe.​ ​

TOBB president M. Rifat Hisarcıkloğlu met Mr. Stefan Füle, Commissioner in charge of Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy in Brussels during a lunch. The lunch was also attended by Former Deputy President of European Commission Günter Verheugen.​ ​
