Foreign Trade Seminar held in Elazığ

31.05.2016 / Elazığ

Coordinated by the Economy Ministry and organized by TOBB and the Eastern Anatolia Exporters Union (DAİB) at the Elazığ Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Foreign Trade Seminar was attended by TOBB Foreign Trade Director Ayşe Mehtap Ekinci, Elazığ TSO Chair İdris Alan, Economy Ministry experts, Provincial Trade Deputy Director Mehmet Çelik, DAİB experts, representatives of exports organizations and the board of Elazığ TSO.

TOBB Foreign Trade Director Ayşe Mehtap Ekinci said in her speech, “We see that Elazığ’s foreign trade figures have increased 3.5 times between 2005 and 2015. Trade volume for 2015 has been reported as 170 million USD, making Elazığ one of the few provinces which have a foreign trade surplus. Elazığ has extraordinary potential. Looking at the countries Elazığ trades with, we see China. China is not an easy country to be exporting to but Elazığ has managed it. We hope that this will continue to increase.”

- Alan: “We aim to increase exports”

Speaking about the conference, Elazığ TSO Chair İdris Alan stated that they held the seminar in order to increase Elazığ’s exports, improve trade with the countries of the region as well as increasing the support of the government, “Elazığ has a great export potential but unfortunately its number of exporters and its share of total exports is not at a level we are satisfied with. The 2023 goal of becoming one of the 10 largest economies in the world and a 500 billion USD exports volume needed to achieve this is still present. The Ministry of Economy has determined the provinces with potential which will be instrumental in reaching these goals. Elazığ is among these provinces. Increasing exports is our priority as well. As a chamber, we are working on projects to increase the exports of our province, contribute to the national exports volume and developing the exports capacity of our province. To this end, we will continue to organize these seminars.”

Following the speeches, Ministry of Economy experts and an expert from Eximbank answered questions on the subjects of Exports Legislation, Branding of Turkish Goods in International Markets, Establishing Turkish Brand Image and Supporting TURQUALITY, Foreign Unit, Brand and Design Support, Support for Market Entrance Documents, Support for Attendance in International Fairs, Turkish Eximbank Exports Credit Insurance and Guarantee Programs and Georgia-Iranian Market Export Opportunities.
