The Turkey – CERN Industry Cooperation Conference was held at the TOBB Union Center, providing information regarding CERN Procurement and Industrial Services Group’s tenders and procurement processes.

Speaking at the Conference, TOBB Board Treasurer Faik Yavuz stated that CERN presents a market with an annual volume of 600 million Euros and that Turkey should take part in it, “Turkey must increase its advanced tech production and exports. For that, we need a roadmap.

We must take on more roles in international projects for the production of high tech and its export. Turkey becoming a party country to CERN in May was a very important step towards this goal and we were greatly pleased by it. Our industrialists will be able to participate in CERN’s tenders and our researchers and scientists will be able to work in CERN.”

Yavuz stated that The CERN-Industry Contact Office will be established under TOBB in order to maintain a flow of information between CERN and companies in Turkey as well as communications.

Yavuz said, “Turkey is supporting CERN with over 200 scientists from 35 universities. Now, the Industry Contact Office established under our Union, will build a bridge between our industrialists and the Turkish scientists in CERN.”

CERN Deputy Director Emmanuel Tsesmelis expressed their desire to garner stronger relations with Turkey in regards to industry, university and researchers, “I believe we can benefit from Turkey’s construction sector.”
