Attending the opening ceremony of the Çorum Commodity Exchange Market Complex, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out the importance of becoming a brand and that even though chickpeas are produced everywhere in Turkey, that Çorum’s roasted chickpeas have become a brand is indicative of Çorum residents’ extraordinary intelligence.

Çorum Commodity Exchange Market Complex’s opening ceremony was attended by TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Çorum Mayor Nurullah Çakır, Çorum Municipality President Muzaffer Külcü and Çorum Commodity Exchange President Ömer Güney along with 4 newly elected members of the Grand National Assembly.

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu stated in his speech that Turkey is the boasts the 7th largest arable sum of land in the world, “Holland, which is the size of Konya, will be exporting 52 billion dollars in agricultural goods. Turkey will be exporting 11 billion dollars’ worth. This is wrong. This is not just.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu announced that they have established a warehousing company with the Turkish Grain Board (TMO), “Unfortunately we have never been able to take the initiative. We need to make an enterprise in licensed warehousing with the advent of the new government.”

Giving an example, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that even though 80% of nut production is based in Turkey, prices are determined in Hamburg, “We should be able to put the price on what we produce, hopefully, we will be able to do this.”

Çorum Commodity Exchange Market President Ömer Güney stated that commerce brings about civilization, “A trade philosophy that places no value on humans has no place in the world today.” Güney said that the new exchange market complex was an investment exceeding 14 million liras.

Çorum Mayor Nurullah Çakır stated in his speech that with each year that goes by, Çorum reinvents itself. Mayor Çakır thanked everyone who had a part in the investment.
