Mete: Turkey has become one of the world’s tourism giants

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) Vice President Halim Mete stated that Turkey has become one of the world’s tourism giants, “In the last 30 years, the number of tourists throughout the world has increased by 5 times, while Turkey has increased the number of tourists it draws in by 120 times over.”​

Mete gave a speech at the “Cruiser Tourism in Turkey and the World, İzmir’s Success and Future in Cruiser Tourism” conference held at the İzmir Chamber of Commerce.

 

Halim Mete stated that new airports positively impact the situation in regards to direct flights for Turkish Airlines.

 

Drawing attention to the World Tourism Organization’s projection for 2030 which states that the number of tourists globally will 1.8, Mete reported that they are working to attain a large portion of that cake, and that, cruiser tourism is among the rising trends in tourism.
