Global Turkish Companies Should Take Up More Space on the World Stage

DEIK meeting with the Turkish Commercial Councilors in speaking the President of TOBB and DEIK M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu added Turkish companies to invest abroad anticipated $ 20 billion the next 5 years. ​


"DEIK meeting with the Turkish Commercial Councilors” was held at The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), the Union Center Conference Hall. As well as the President of TOBB and DEIK Mr. Hisarcıklıoğlu, Minister of the State Mr. Zafer Çağlayan and Chairman of DEIK Executive Board Rona Yırcalı made a speech at the meeting. 

At the opening of the meeting, President of TOBB and DEIK M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, stated in his speech; “In our contacts we have seen that, cost of buying the brand after the crisis, has become less expensive then the cost of creating a brand or brands to put in the market. Companies also are trying to adapt more and more in this new environment. We are envisaged the Turkish companies will invest $ 20 billion abroad, during the next 5 years. So, we should work for the global Turkish companies to take up more space on the world stage. Therefore, we aim to make more efficient cooperation between the DTM and DEIK, to increase the project and business development-oriented efforts.

Mr. Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that, in the afternoon with the Prime Minister and relevant Ministers consulted the issues that must be done to create for the new and more comprehensive strategy in foreign economic relations. President of TOBB and DEİK Mr. Hisarcıklıoğlu specifying that DEİK assumes the private sector, the task of coordinating foreign economic relations, with the 5174 The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and Law of the Chambers and Commodity Exchange’s 58th article, reminded related provision:

Under the supervision of the Union's foreign economic relations of the private sector to carry out, subject to the provisions of private law and legal entity, the organization and activity goals are the same the private sector organizations which determined by the Union, consists the Foreign Economic Relations Board. The short name of the institution is DEIK. The Board executes the bilateral economic relations, according to the decisions of the board of directors by through the business councils.

- “Essentially DEİK is mutual willpower crucible of the private sector”

President Hisarcıklıoğlu mentioned that DEİK represents to the private sectors sides of the increasing our efficiency policy at global market.

“Essentially DEİK is mutual mind, mutual value, mutual denominator, mutual willpower crucible of Turkish Private Sector. Foundation story of DEİK has started that decided the Turkey's export-oriented growth at the period of the deceased Mr. Özal. DEİK which has 29 founders, has a great ability to represent and a wide service network, both inside and outside our country.”

The main goal of DEİK in coming period, “The Turkish private sector to increase competitiveness in the global market” as explaining Hisarcıklıoğlu said: “We will work to increase our market share and competitiveness at the Eurasia, Asia-Pacific, and Africa markets. We will give special attention to Strategy Development Studies. We will lead the regional economic integration projects. After all, we can not be competitive only by doing commerce. In order to grow to rich more, to be more competitive, we both should make an investment at the global markets, carry out purchases, and attract the global investors to our country”

Minister Çağlayan mentioned that the Commercial Councilors will work as a component of private sector.

Minister Çağlayan said that as the Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade, they are open to all sorts of cooperation with DEİK and TOBB to the last. “DEIK means, Turkey means” as said Mr. Çağlayan, emphasized The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) is a institution which everybody is a member.

Minister Cağlayan reminded that when he came to the station, number of the Commercial Counselor was inadequate and the law in Parliament this number increased to 250.

Mentioned that the Commercial Councilors will work as a component of private sector, Minister Çağlayan said that Commercial Councilors work a local at overseas and need the support components.

Minister Çağlayan are making to call members of DEİK, said: “Come together do a needs analysis. We create joint structure together”.

Minister Çağlayan reported that focused on the China, India, Russian Federation, Indonesia, the USA’s target markets and the total imports of these 5 countries are 5 billon dollars, Turkey’s exports to these countries are 11,5 billion dollars.  Mr. Çağlayan said that “Our inadequacy could not to tell ourselves. The place which you couldn’t go is not yours. Definitely we have to go all over the world”

Chairman of DEIK Executive Board Rona Yırcalı said that increasing the number of the Commercial Counselors will be useful for DEİK and the ahead of this operation. 

Stating that seen the Commercial Counselors as own embassies Mr Yırcalı mentioned that as DEİK will not limited at the traditional markets and planning on organize at the target markets.
