The President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu spoke at the opening of the Luxembourg Business and Investment Seminar organized by DEİK. He stressed that the economic relations.​


Hisarcıklıoğlu said that he appreciated Luxemburg’s economical success.  He stated that the trade volume between Luxemburg and Turkey was 140 million euro in 2010 and there should do more cooperation with Luxemburg. Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out that trade volume between two countries was very low so they should focus on service sector.


He pointed out that they should extend the economic relations regarding finance sector, research and development, logistic, health technologies and tourism. He continued his speech “We have a plan to make Istanbul the financial center. We want to benefit from your experience about financial center management.”

Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg, Krecké
The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg Jeannot Krecké stressed that in 2010, the economies are braver but there are difficulties about the margins of profit.

Krecké, “As we were telling that our economies are going better, there were actions which affected the oil prices, what happened in Japan made us reconsider the nuclear energy and we must search for cheaper and accessible energy resources.


“We are now looking at Middle Asian Countries and wait benefit from Nabucco pipeline and Turkey is a hub country acting like a bridge between Europe and Asia. Iran will be as Turkey if the circumstances go better.

The hereditary Duke of Luxembourg Prince Guillaume said that all Luxembourg governments worked hard for regional stability and peace. He continued, “Luxembourg is one of the six founder countries of the European Union and is playing a major role in many of the important international organizations of the world. We can collaborate with Turkey on finance and services sectors.”
