North Africa Should Set Us an Example, We Shall Develop Trade in the Balkans

TOBB president M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu underlined the importance of trade to increase the welfare in the Balkans at the business dinner for Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaç. Mr. Hisarcıklıoğlu mentioned the incidents took place in North Africa must be seriously considered and set an example for the possible outcomes of poverty.​


Mr. Hisarcıklıoğlu stated the trade in the Balkans must be increased for the stability and the peace of the region. Mr. Hisarcıklıoğlu added stability in the Balkans has strategic importance for Turkey and it is the goal of Turkish businessmen to preserve peace in the area.

Besides DEIK Turkey-Kosovo Business Council president Sadullah Sipahioğlu, there were 40 businessmen including Şarık Tara and Nihat Özdemir at the meeting.


-TOBB president M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu asked for priority in privatization

TOBB president M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu mentioned Turkish private sector closely follows the privatization program in Kosovo and asked priority for the Turkish companies.  Mr. Hisarcıklıoğlu said the Turkish companies are ready to cooperate for the betterment of facilities and modernization of the health services. 


-DEİK Turkey-Kosovo Business Council President Sadullah Sipahioğlu

DEİK Turkey-Kosovo Business Council President Sadullah Sipahioğlu mentioned that when the free trade agreement between the two countries signed the trading volume will increase to 1 billion dollars from 300 million dollars in one year.
Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaç listed the following business opportunities for Turkish companies: road construction, energy, skiing sport, agriculture. Mr. Thaç said he is going to support Turkish investors.


-Tara: “They wouldn’t let us construct buildings in Champ-Elysee.”

Businessman Şarık Tara mentioned that they’re building a highway that will bring friendship to the Balkans and change the political context. Mr. Tara said Kosovo will be the most developed state in the Balkans soon.
Şarık Tara said they wouldn’t be allowed to construct buildings in Champ-Elysee and that their company will continue to work in challenging countries.
Limak Holding board chairman Nihat Özdemir mentioned the construction and management of Pristina Airport will begin on 4th of April.
