The Turkish-German Economy Meeting took place at Hannover Congress Hall on 28th February, 2011 with the participation of 350 Turkish and German businessmen and government officials.

Stressing the importance of Turkish entrepreneurs in Germany, Hisarcıklıoğlu reminded that 72 thousand Turkish companies provide employment for 400 thousand people. Hisarcıklıoğlu mentioned the visa problem at the meeting. He also stressed that the production in Turkey has very high quality. He also stressed that Turkey is a perfect location for companies which want to do business with Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa.

Prime Minister Erdoğan touched upon the recent cases in Libya. He also mentioned the importance of Turkey’s EU membership and asked for Germany’s support. Mentioning the feasibility of Turkey’s region for investment in energy and environment sectors, he invited German business community to investment. He also stressed the necessity of finalizing Double Taxation Agreement between the two countries.

Ministry of Industry and Trade Nihat Ergün also attended the conference and made a speech. He mentioned the incentives for foreign investors in Turkey.

Turkish German Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Dr. von Leoprechting and German-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Franz Koller also delivered speeches.

After the meeting, the official opening ceremony of the CeBIT Fair took place at the same conference hall with the participation of Prime Minister ERdoÄŸan anc German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
