Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Chamber/Exchange Presidents meet at TOBB

13.07.2013 / Ankara

The Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Regions Consultation Meeting took place with TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu presiding.

During his presentation at the meeting, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu provided the guest chamber/exchange presidents with information regarding the activities and projects of TOBB.

Stating that they were the first to establish TEPAV, the first and only institution in Turkey geared towards economic policy, Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that TEPAV has become Europe’s third best think tank.

- “One of our most important components is that we guide investors”

Emphasizing that they have invested significantly to their IT systems and infrastructure in order to publish capacity reports, Hisarcıklıoğlu said: “You should be using this system especially in your provinces for investors. This system’s goal is preventing passive investments. You can see which province has how many facilities in a certain sector, what is its capacity, if the city needs more or not. We can see who is producing how much of what in a specific province.

Unfortunately, because these are underutilized at the moment, Turkey’s flour factory capacity is three what it actually needs and they’re all working at a third of their capacity as a result. That is why we need to be guiding investors when they come to our provinces. One of our most important components is that we guide investors. We can see from this report which province has how much investments in a sector and what the capacity is, even throughout all of Turkey.”
