In his speech at the Haymana Commodity Exchange, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that due to the increasing population and level of wealth, the most important sector in the future will be the food sector.

The first transaction of 2013 for the Haymana Commodity Exchange was conducted with the attendance of TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu. In his speech, Hisarcıklıoğlu expressed great pleasure for being in Haymana and said, “We have conducted the first transaction of the season. May the wheat be plentiful and your earnings great.”

Emphasizing that the most important sector in the future will be agriculture and stockbreeding, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The world’s population increases each year by an amount equal to that of the population of Turkey. The increase in wealth has brought the lower class to the middle class. Increasing population and level of wealth will make the food sector the most important sector of the future.”

The TOBB President stated that Turkey is the world’s 7th largest country in terms of arable land and that agriculture and stockbreeding which used to be done for subsistence are now being done for profit.

Stating that Holland, despite being equal in size to Konya, earns 55 billion USD yearly from agriculture and stockbreeding, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We must do this knowledgeably. We must adapt to new technologies and production systems. We must also consolidate arable land as soon as possible. It is impossible to achieve efficiency without consolidating land. When we transition to a planned agriculture economy, the farmers and our country will earn more money.”

Afterwards, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the foundation ceremony of the collective housing to be built in Haymana, followed by conducting the opening of the Sultan Abdülhamid Han Gate at the Haymana entrance.

Entering the field where the Haymana Hot Spring Festival is held with the Janissary Band, Hisarcıklıoğlu visited the Haymana Chamber of Commerce prior to leaving the county.
