Publishing a message regarding the passing of Finance Journalists Association founder, master reporter Ömer Faruk Günel, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that Günel had contributed greatly to the development of the financial press and led an admirable career.


Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message:

“We have learned to our great sorrow that our friend and journalist Ömer Faruk Günel following a heart attack. One of the founding members of the Finance Journalists Association in 1987, Ömer Faruk Günel’s journalism career which began in 1973 was one which should be exemplary to his younger colleagues. His contributions to informing the business and economy community with an understanding of truth and objectivity will not be forgotten.

Economy occupying the headlines and having priority on the country’s agenda has been possible through the efforts of great names like Ömer Faruk Günel. We will remember Günel always with reverence.

On behalf of the Turkish business community, I pray for the grace of Allah upon him and present my condolences to his family, finance press and the whole media community. May heaven be his abode.”
