M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of TOBB and Hayati Yazıcı, Minister of Customs and Trade attended a meeting held at Menemen Chamber of Commerce.

In his speech, Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of TOBB, emphasized that with Minister Yazıcı, they carried out important works in İzmir that date, and said, “First of all, we have opened Ege Tarım Ürünleri Lisanslı Depoculuk A.Ş. at İzmir Commodity Exchange. We then opened the Electronic Commodity Bill Platform.  The licensed warehouse will be indispensable for the farmers, merchants and the industrialists as well in the period ahead.   Every element used in agriculture is now present in Turkey.  Agricultural products are able to find their actual prices.  I hope these facilities that we have opened today will provide another thrust to the Turkish agriculture.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu said that with the amendment in the Turkish Commercial Code which cleared the way for small and medium enterprises, Minister Yazıcı saved small and  medium enterprises from a burden of 6 billion.

Telling that Menemen Chamber of Commerce submitted an application to become an Accredited Chamber, President of TOBB said, “Menemen Chamber of Commerce will be a five-star chamber in September or October".

Hayati Yazıcı, Minister of Customs and Trade, said Turkey recorded great developments in every area.

Pointing out that trade associations are very important organizations, there are 365 chambers associated with TOBB in Turkey, and chamber elections would be completed in the next May – June, and elections  for TOBB bodies would be held in August, Yazıcı said:   “NACE coding is the numbering of professional activities according to the intensity of activities.  There is an internationally recognized formulation.  The unit that carried out this study involved public institutions as well as TOBB.  We carried out the infrastructural studies regarding these elections with great care, and supervised their implementation.   NACE coding is a very important study.  NACE coding is not just a study aimed at member chambers of TOBB.   Around 4 million 500 thousand active elements Turkey-wide were coded in the framework of NACE study.  The number of members currently registered with the chambers is about 1.5 million.   For this reason, it is not a study only connected with chambers of commerce and industry."

Emphasizing that Turkey's export which was 36 billion dollars in 2002 reached 152 billion dollars in 2012, Yazıcı said, “The export of such a high magnitude was of course realized by businessmen who are the actors of commercial life. The State can’t do that.  The State clears the path for enterprises, removes obstacles, and in a sense, constructs the road.  We introduced the Turkish Commercial Code last year.  We aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the Turkish merchants.  We are clearing the way for the commercial community.  We constructed the highway for trade with the new Turkish Commercial Code.”

-Visit to Aliağa Port District

Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of TOBB, and Yazıcı, Minister of Customs and Trade, visited Aliağa Port District before arriving at Menemen.

Yazıcı who delivered a speech there said that with the on-site customs clearance application, they provided great facilitation to exporters, and their aim was to minimize and eliminate unrecorded economy.

“If 35-40 percent of an economy is unrecorded, it is an important issue" said Yazıcı, and added, "The higher unrecorded economy is, the higher the burden on recorded economy will rise. The State imposes taxes on the recorded economy in order to satisfy its current expenditure.  The lower you drive unrecorded economy, the lower the burden on recorded economy will be.  It is like a teeter-totter.   Our aim is to minimize and eliminate unrecorded economy."
