Attending the ceremony were President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, TBMM Speaker İsmail Kahraman, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, Prime Minister Deputy Lütfi Elvan, Foreign Affairs Ministry Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Food, Agriculture and Livestock Ministry Faruk Çelik, Domestic Affairs Ministry Efkan Ala, Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Ministry Bülent Tüfenkci, Association of International Garden Plants (AIPH) Chair Bernard Oosterom, Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) Secretary General Vincente Loscertales, representatives of various foreign missions and civil society organizations, TBMM representatives and over 5,000 guests.

The opening began with a reception held by AIPH at the EXPO Congress Lounge, followed by the official opening ceremony.

Speaking at the opening were, the AIPH Chair, BIE Secretary General, Foreign Affairs Minister, EXPO 2016 EXPO Antalya Board Chair, Food, Agriculture and Livestock Ministry Faruk Çelik, the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic of Turkey.
