Mr. Salim Uslu, President of HAK-İŞ is elected as Co-Chair of the Turkish side for Turkey-EU Joint Consultative Committee (JCC).

Meeting was held on 1 March 2011 at TOBB Headquarters in Ankara with participation of President of TOBB M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoglu, President of HAK-İŞ  Salim Uslu, President of TİSK Tugrul Kudatgobilik, President of TÜRK-İŞ Mustafa Kumlu, President of TESK Bendevi Palandöken, President of KAMUSEN Bircan Akyıldız and Deputy Secretary Generel of TZOB Selahattin Mermer. President of HAK-İŞ Mr. Salim Uslu is elected as the new Co-chair of Turkish side of the Committee for the years 2011 – 2013. ​

​Co-chair of Turkey-EU Joint is elected respectively between three groups; “employers” “workers” and “various interest groups”. President of HAK-İŞ Salim Uslu take over the chair from President of TİSK Tugrul Kudatgobilik. Mr. Uslu in his statement after the meeting mentioned that;“Turkey – EU relations are in a difficult stage. Turkey – EU JCC sustained to support for dialogue between both parts even during the most difficult conditions. We will carry on our support for the cooperation between EU and Turkey and work to improve relations.” Turkey – EU JCC was established on 16 November 1995 under the EU – Turkey Association Agreement (Ankara Agreement, 1963). JCC consists of a total of 36 members; 18 members drawn from the EESC and 18 representatives of civil society of Turkey.  It is an instrument promoting interaction between the economic and social actors of organized civil society of both sides.  The main role of JCC, is to issue recommendations to the relevant bodies on each  side; both to Turkish Government and to the EU – Turkey Association Council,  European Parliament and the European Commission.Committee meets regularly twice a year and discussed reports prepared by the members. Additionally, Committee issues a Joint Declaration following each meeting.
