Konya may produce long awaited domestic car

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the 40th anniversary of the Konya Chamber of Industry. During his speech at the ceremony celebrating the contributions of industrialists throughout the 40 years of the chamber’s past, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “As of today, 25 of our companies are a part of the 1,000 largest companies. I believe that the Konya will produce the long awaited domestic car.”​

Speaking at the meeting attended by Science, Industry and Technology Minister Fikri Işık, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that Bursa is in an enviable position with a Prime Minister from Bursa while the number of Bursa companies in the top 1,000 companies in Turkey was 13 ten years in contrast to the 25 in the list today.

 

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out the historical importance of Bursa and stated that Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has supported them and industrialists since taking office. Reporting that they met with Science, Industry and Technology Minister Fikri Işık two days ago at the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA) which brought together 57 Muslim countries, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We undertook a beneficial endeavor there as well. As, TOBB we will relay our organized industry zone experience to our brothers in Palestine through the OIZ we will be establishing in Jenin as well as providing employment to 5,000 of our Palestinian brothers, signed alongside the Palestinian Deputy Prime Minister. We have taken the initiative to establish Turkey’s 281st OIZ in Jenin, Palestine.”

Science, Industry and Technology Minister Fikri Işık stated that we’ve science and social studies neglected in the last 300 years, causing a lapse. Going on to say that the time to get back up has come, Yiğit said, “The time has come to leap ahead, focusing on science and technology. In this regard, we hold Konya in great esteem.”

 

Stating that their three priorities are domestic, innovative and green production. Minister Işık stressed the importance of high added value production as opposed to high volume production. He went on to state that they plan on producing a domestic hybrid car before 2020.

 

Minister Işık ended his speech by stating that he shared the joy of Konya Chamber of Industry’s 40th anniversary.

Konya Greater Municipality Director Tahir Akyürek, Konya Chamber of Industry President and TOBB Board Member Memiş Kütükcü also gave speeches during the ceremony followed by the presentation of plaques to members on their 40th year as well as former chamber and council members.

Prior to the ceremony, Hisarcıklıoğlu held a meeting with the board and councils of the chambers and exchanges in Konya in which ideas were exchanged.
