Marmaris moves towards branding with “Honey House”

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, during his speech at the opening of the Marmaris Honey House, pointed out the importance of branding and that Honey House has brought Marmaris one step closer to prosperity.​

 

The opening of the Honey House, established with the support of the Marmaris Chamber of Commerce was conducted at the Osmaniye village of Marmaris. Attending the opening were TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ertuğrul Günay.


Hisarcıklıoğlu drew attention to the opportunities and natural beauty of Marmaris and said, “Allah has graced you with such land. You only need compare it to the steppes of Anatolia to know what fertile lands you live on.”


Relating how Marmaris has undertaken important works in order to in order to bring to fore the richness of the county; Hisarcıklıoğlu thanked everyone who contributed to the project starting with the President of the Marmaris Chamber of Commerce, Mehmet Baysal.
Praising and pointing out the importance of Honey House in regards to branding, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “This is a matter of vision. Even though we are the homeland of the honeydew honey, we are not making much profit. Don’t forget, unless you brand your treasures, you won’t profit from them.”


- Coffee and yogurt examples


Hisarcıklıoğlu gave coffee and yogurt as examples and stated that there needs to be additional work done towards branding. “When we were shown this project regarding honeydew honey, we supported it in regards to branding,” said Hisarcıklıoğlu and that farmers had produced and sold only little of it before it became a brand and reported that there is greater possibility of production and profit now.


Stating that the most profitable sectors are agriculture and livestock farming, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized the need for more focus on these fields.


- Production without spoiling the essence and quality

Culture and Tourism Minister Ertuğrul Günay, pointing out the importance of production, reminded those present of Atatürk’s words: “Those who make a habit of living without working, tiring and producing lose first their dignity, then their freedom and lastly, their future.”


Praising TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu for his works, Minister Günay said, “I thank Mr. Rifat for spreading new projects to the four corners of the country and working to promote Turkey worldwide.”


Marmaris Chamber of Commerce Minister Mehmet Baysal stated that Turkey produces 92% of the world’s honeydew honey and reminded that the Marmaris Honey House is a non-profit social development project.


- Visit to the Padoks Farm


TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and the Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertuğrul Günay visited Padoks Hotel and Equestrianism Facilities.
