TOBB Supports Transport Sector: Mr. Hisacıklıoğlu says cooperation and solidarity is the solution for problems

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarciklioglu, emphasizing that road transport is a difficult but extremely important sector for our country, have spoken with hope to solve the problems of the sector.

Hisarciklioglu said, from TOBB’s point of view, there is a need for maintaining and protecting the international competitiveness of transport industry and added that initiatives were taken to solve the problems regarding permits quotas and visa requirements, as well as recent cabotage problems in France.

 

 
 

 

Telling about his assessments on international road transport, TOBB President Mr. Hisarciklioglu, pointed out the importance of the sector, and once again stressed TOBB, being the world's biggest TIR guaranteeing association has a confidence in the need for continuation of international competitiveness of the sector. Stating that distribution of digital tachograph cards started in 2010 as a new service by TOBB for the sector,  as an additional one to those such as TIR Carnets and distributing the transport permits, TOBB President also said TOBB provides Europe’s cheapest  tachograph cards for Turkish hauliers.
 
Stating that they closely follow the developments in the sector which carry over 30 percent of our country's foreign trade, TOBB President said they believe that UND will quickly overcome the recent troubles and will continue their extremely important services for the sector. Defining ro-ro transport activities of UND as a broad vision initiative for the purpose of providing cheap and high quality service for sector, Hisarcıklıoğlu urged the sector to support such initiatives.
 

 

Initiatives Continue To Be Taken To Solve The Quota And Visa Issues

 

 

 

TOBB President stated that, road transporters devoted themselves for the benefit of the country and the nation by performing such a demanding task. He said the sector which is yet to heal the wounds of the global financial crisis in 2008, is facing visa and permit quotas problems and added that the initiatives are continue to solve the cabotage problem in France.
 
By saying that he believes the sectoral problems be can be solved by acting in cooperation and solidarity, Hisarciklioglu described the integration decision of UND and RODER, being the most fundamental institutions of the international transport sector, as a late but quite positive development.

 

 

 

By offering his thanks to former chairman of UND, Mr. Tamer Dinçşahin - whom left his post recently and also spent great efforts in this integration process - for his services to the Turkish private sector which is represented by TOBB, Hisarcıklıoğlu said he believes that transport sector will continue to rise by supporting each other.
