''Turkey should be the main pillar of Greece exit strategy''

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu, attended the “2nd Turkish-Greece Regional Business Forum”, which was held in Komothini on January 15th, 2011. HE Nihat Ergün, Minister of Industry and Trade also attended the business Forum. In the course of his visit Mr. Hisarciklioglu and TOBB delegation came together with the Muslim Minority in Xantia and Komotini.​

 

In these meeting Hisarciklolgu stated that “Turkey and Turkish people feel happy about seeing Muslim Majority in Greece getting more prosperous and well-educated and integrated to Greece; and he also added that, Muslim Majority has been the bridge of friendship and cooperation between Turkey and Greece.”
 
The background the business forum goes back to the “Turkish-Greece Business Council Meeting” which was held on the occasion of Turkish Prime Minister Erdoğan’s visit to Greece on May 16th, 2010. Following this visit, the “1st, Turkish-Greece Regional Business Forum” was held in Edirne on Jun 18th, 2010 by TOBB DEİK and Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
 
As a follow up of the 1st Business Forum, the 2nd Turkish-Greece Regional Business Forum” was held in Komothini on January 15th, 2011. The Business Forum was attended by almost 600 business people both from Turkey and Greece. Mr. Mi Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of TOBB and DEİK, Mr. Georgios Kassimatis, President of Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Hasan Göğüş, Ambassador of Turkey to Greece, Turkish Minister of Trade and Industry, Greek State Minister and Speaker of Government George Petalotis delivered the opening statements of the Business Forum.
 
In his statement Mr. Hisarciklolgu pointed out that, ''Improving commercial relations with Turkey should be the main pillar of Greece exit strategy'”. Mr. Hisarciklioglu also underlined the importance of looking forward in the relations between two countries. He also called upon the media in both countries and said that, “ Improving relations is in the benefit of the citizens of both Turkey and Greece. The media in both countries should encourage and announce the concrete steps in improving the relations.
 
It was decided that the third meeting of the Forum will be held in Canakkale, the fourth meeting in Kavala and the fifth meeting in Bulgaria. Bulgarian CCI will also be invited to take part in the business forum. ​
