Also attending the ceremony in addition to Hisarcıklıoğlu were the President of the Republic Abdullah Gül, TBMM Speaker Cemil Çiçek, EU Minister and Head Negotiator Egemen Bağış, MHP Group Deputy Chairman Oktay Vural, Press Publication Institution Director General Mehmet Atalay, Anadolu Ajans Deputy Director General Ahmet Tek and other guests.

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu presented the awards to Altun Burgucu and Bünyamin Aygün for their entries which came in second in the “Photograph of the Year” category.

Touring the gallery of the photographs which took part in the contest en route to the ceremony, President Gül stated that photojournalism is capturing the most interesting, the most memorable moment in the flow of life and congratulated the photojournalists.

TBMM Speaker Cemil Çiçek congratulated the winners and stated that they more than deserved their awards. Çiçek said, “There is no need for words where there is a photograph.”
