Modernization of border Gates benefits everyone

Visiting the Sarp Border Gate, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they expect 5 million people to pass through the Sarp Border Gate this year and that the number of TIR entries increased by 28% to 233,000 last year.​

 

Attending the Turkish Trade Law Introduction meeting and chamber/exchange visits in Rize, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu inspected the Sarp Border Gate. Also visiting GTİ’s branch office, Hisarcıklıoğlu reminded that the responsibility for the modernization of all border gates has been given to TOBB and that they have invested approximately 210 million Dollars to this day for the endeavor.

Stating that no state funds have been used in the modernization process, instead 91 million Dollars’ income has been achieved, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that approximately 22 million Dollars have been invested in the Sarp Border Gate.

- Pedestrian access problem in Sarp will be solved


Stating that there are certain issues regarding pedestrian access at the Sarp Border Gate, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the problem would be solved as soon as possible and a bid is in progress. The TOBB President said that the Sarp Border Gate has provided a total of 6.2 million Dollars for the government.
Reminding that once the Çıldır-Aktaş gate is completed, those heading to Azerbaijan and Tbilisi will be directed there, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated this would lighten the Sarp Gate’s load. The TOBB President also emphasized the importance of Muratlı and Türközü gates.
