TOBB and the Turkmenistan Chamber of Industry and Commerce sign agreement

The “Cooperation Agreement between TOBB and the Turkmenistan Chamber of Industry and Commerce” was signed by the TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and the Turkmenistan Chamber of Industry and Commerce President Palvan Taganov in the presence of President Abdullah Gül and Turkmenistan President Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov.​

 

President Gül and the Turkmenistan President Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov, after the meeting of committees, held a joint press meeting.

Prior to the meeting, a cooperation agreement between TOBB and the Turkmenistan Chamber of Industry and Commerce was signed in the presence of Gül and Berdimuhamedov.


In addition to this agreement, several others were also signed. Signed between the relevant authorities and ministers of both countries were: “Cooperation Protocol between the State of the Republic of Turkey and the State of Turkmenistan in regards to Archives”, “Agreement regarding the Promotion of Tourism between TİKA and the Turkmenistan State of Committee of Tourism and Sports”, “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the State of the Republic of Turkey and the State of Turkmenistan regarding Water”, “Cooperation Agreement between the State of the Republic of Turkey and the State of Turkmenistan regarding Combating Major Crimes, mainly Terrorism and Organized Crime”, “Agreement of Cooperation between the State of the Republic of Turkey and the State of Turkmenistan regarding Judiciary and Punitive Matters,” “Memorandum of Understanding regarding the Cooperation between the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diplomacy Academy and the Turkmenistan Foreign Affairs Ministry International Affairs Institute.”


Gül and Berdimuhamedov also signed the “Joint Proclamation on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Turkey and Turkmenistan”.


President of the Republic, Abdullah Gül stated that this was the re-elected President Berdimuhamedov’s first international state visit after the elections on the 12th and that he is accompanied by a large number of ministers and said that this was indicative of the value attributed to Turkey by Turkmenistan. Congratulating his re-election, Gül relayed his gratitude for Bedimuhamedov’s visit.
Gül said, “We, as brothers, are proud to see how far Turkmenistan has advanced, how stronger it has become and how much esteem it has garnered within 20 years.”

President Gül went on, “Relations between Turkey and Turkmenistan are progressing on all fronts. We have assessed the situation and have made new decisions. We will put these into practice. I would also like to thank my dear friend, my brother Berdimuhamedov for the value given to Turkish businessmen and construction companies during the big development push made by Turkmenistan in recent years.”


Stating that they will be attending more events today and tomorrow with Berdimuhamedov, Gül said, “Let there be no doubt that Turk and Turkmen relations will progress in the awareness and spirit of a single nation.”
