Gaziantep Lahmacun Receives Geographical Indication Registration from the EU

M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), announced that Antep / Gaziantep Lahmacun is the 40th product to receive geographical indication registration from the European Union, saying, “May it be beneficial for Gaziantep and our country. I congratulate our Gaziantep Commodity Exchange President Mehmet Akıncı, who champions our local values, the Gaziantep Commodity Exchange Board of Directors, its Assembly, and everyone who contributed to this achievement.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We have a product diversity that very few regions in the world can boast. As TOBB and the Chamber-Exchange community, we are making intensive efforts for local and geographically indicated products. Our work continues on 42 geographical indications and 2 traditional product names that are in the process of being registered with the European Union.”
