Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) verified 1,472 capacity reports in July.​

TOBB Board Member Cengiz Günay attended the 14th Turkish Design Consultation Council Meeting held at the Science, Industry and Technology Ministry.​

The Coordination Council for the Improvement of Investment Environment in Turkey (YOİKK) convened at the Prime Ministry Headquarters under the auspices of the Deputy Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli. Attending the meeting in addition to TOBB Board Treasurer Faik Yavuz were Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Treasury Minister Naci Ağbal, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci, Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ, Development Minister Lütfi Elvan, Science, Industry and Technology Minister Faruk Özlü, Labor and Social Security Minister Süleyman Soylu, Customs and Commerce Minister Bülent Tüfenkci. Deputy Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli stated in his speech that the economic situation has recovered to what it was prior to the July 15th coup attempt in short time, “The sensible and rational stance of the economic administration has been instrumental in minimizing the effects of July 15th coup attempt and recovering rapidly.” ​

Turkey Software Council convened under TOBB Board Member Cengiz Günay in İstanbul. Cengiz Günay stated the need to convey to our international trade partners the facts regarding the situation in Turkey following the coup attempt of July 15th, impressing upon them that only a 3%-4% has taken place in the markets, that there is no obstacle for investments and that Turkey will maintain its stance for freedom and democracy.​

TOBB Turkey Automotive Industry Council convened to assess the developments of the sector. The meeting convened under Council Vice Chair Osman Sever. During the meeting a presentation was given by TOBB Turkey Software Council Chair Melek Bar Elmas in regards to the synergy of the software sector with other sectors in regards mutual strengthening via cooperation.​

Vocational Proficiency Exams for woodworking, walling, plastering were held in Fethiye, Muğla, by TOBB’s partner MEYBEM Vocational Proficiency and Certifications Center Inc. in cooperation with the Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry.​

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Board Vice Chair Halim Mete attended the 54th Financial Development Foundation (İKV) General Assembly.​

TOBB Turkey Paper and Paper Products Council convened under Council Chair Erdal Sükan in order to discuss the developments and problems of the sector in İstanbul. During the meeting, one of the most significant problems for domestic paper producers, the importing of foreign paper was discussed. It was stated that companies are having a difficult time in preparing documentation for applying for protective measure from the Economy Ministry in regards to unfair competition stemming from the importing of paper.​

German Union of Industry and Trade Chambers (DIHK) Secretary General Dr. Martin Wansleben and German-Turkish TSO (AHK) Board Members visited TOBB on July 21st and 22nd. Possible areas of cooperation and future joint workspaces for TOBB and DIHK were discussed.​

Of the 3,029 capacity reports verified in June, 970 were in İstanbul, 205 in Bursa, 2014 in Ankara, 175 in İzmir, 93 in Gaziantep and Kocaeli, 89 in Konya, 66 in Manisa, 61 in Adana and 60 in Tekirdağ.​​​
