Paper and Paper Products Council convened in Ä°stanbul

TOBB Turkey Paper and Paper Products Council convened under Council Chair Erdal Sükan in order to discuss the developments and problems of the sector in İstanbul. During the meeting, one of the most significant problems for domestic paper producers, the importing of foreign paper was discussed. It was stated that companies are having a difficult time in preparing documentation for applying for protective measure from the Economy Ministry in regards to unfair competition stemming from the importing of paper.​

- Packaging Waste Control Legislation revision assessed

Attending the meeting, Environment and Urbanism Ministry experts provided information in regards to Packaging Waste Control Legislation revision, reporting that legislation would be brought forth in 2016 to include all packaging and other ratable waste; it will require that ratable and non-ratable waste be separately gathered.

- Greenhouse gas emission monitoring, reporting and verification

A representative of Life Energy Consulting Company attended the meeting in order to inform the council in regards to greenhouse gas emission monitoring, reporting and verification. Stressing the importance of legislation for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions, it was warned that companies failing to properly report emissions may be subject to severe sanctions.
