SME Summit held in TRNC

The third TRNC SME Summit was held at the Hotel Nicosia Golden Tulip with the participation of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Board Member M. Cihat Lokmanoğlu with the theme of Innovation and ICT in TRNC.​

The Summit was hosted by YAGA and TR Nicosia Embassy Development and Economic Cooperation Office. The participants exchanged ideas on product, service, process, marketing, organization and innovation to ensure that all SMEs should have an innovative approach in the changing world market.

TOBB Board Member M. Cihat Lokmanoğlu stated that, as Turkey's business world, they always want the further prosperity of the Turkish Cypriot people. Stating that they are aware of the unjustly isolations slowed down this process, Lokmanoğlu said: “We will always continue to support the Turkish Cypriot business world as Turkey. To this end, we are working closely with the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce. We’ve established the Turkey-TRNC Chamber of Commerce Forum. I also am the President of the Turkish wing of the TR-TRNC Chamber of Commerce Forum. We are aware of the importance of economic reforms that will strengthen the TRNC economy and allow more investment. In this context, we have set our common priorities. We have prepared and implemented our action plan. Among our priorities, facilitate bilateral trade and promotion, TRNC more investment and wherein the provision of a better investment climate, The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce will engage in more technical cooperation and more cooperation in the international arena with the exchange of information. In this context, we think that the Turkish Cypriot Government's decision to revive the Investment Advisory Council mechanism is very important. Let us use Cyprus' investment potential more. Let's bring more investment to Cyprus. We, as the Turkish business world, want to invest more in Cyprus. We want Cyprus, which is a brand in tourism and education, to stand out in agriculture-based industry and high-tech production.”

Following the signing of protocols for cooperation between TİKAD, Habitat and the TİM and YAGA, the summit continued with Sezai Hazır (HABİTAT) chairing the session of Innovative Entrepreneurship, New Generation Technologies as well as TOBB Sectors and Entrepreneurship Department Director Ozan Acar chairing the ICT Ecosystem panel.
