Employment and Vocational Training Empowerment Action Plan (İMEİGEP) Monitoring and Assessment Council held its 2011 Action Assessment Meeting at the Labor and Social Security Ministry.​

During the meeting attended by the TOBB Board Vice President Halim Mete, Labor and Social Security Minister Faruk Çelik stated that it is planned to provide vocational and technical training in line with the needs of the job market as part of the Employment and Vocational Training Empowerment Action Plan.

Çelik stated that the criteria looked for in the workforce are prone to change according to technological advances, business organizations and customer demand.

Accordingly, Çelik stated that 651 vocational standards have been identified with 225 of them being published in the official gazette, going into effect.

- A significant increase in employment has been achieved in the last 2 years

Speaking at the meeting, Development Minister Cevdet Yılmaz emphasized the importance of employment at least as much as growth in the development process. Stating that the real results of growth and the changes brought upon the lives of the people reach the people via employment Yılmaz said that despite the global crisis in the recent years, many countries’ unemployment figures have risen whereas Turkey has achieved a significant increase in employment in the last 2 years.
