08.10.2018 / Gaziantep

The 15th meeting of the Regional Development Cooperation Platform was held on October 4th in Gaziantep. Attending the meeting were members of the Chamber and Regional Agencies of the Platform (Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Antakya, Osmaniye, Kilis, Kahramanmaraş Chambers of Commerce and Industry) as well as Union Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Board Member Zeki Kıvanç and TOBB Department Head Hasan Erbay.

In his speech at the meeting, TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç emphasized that the Turkish Lira has lost about 50% of its value since January, “We’ve been on ready footing ever since the beginning of this shift. We held meetings with 365 Chambers and Exchanges Chairs. We're aware of the fire. We are constantly in consultation with our government. On August 14th, TOBB-TÜSİAD put forth a joint statement. We shared our 5-point proposal with the public and the government.

Kıvanç pointed out that the most urgent problem is access to finances. We launched the new SME Support Loan with our Government. Our SMEs, who want to use credit, are unfortunately subject to interest rates exceeding 30%. When using the Support Loan, they will pay 1.85% monthly, 22% annual interest with a grace of 6 months.
