In order to make an effective contribution to local development, Academic Advisors appointed by the 81 chambers and commodity exchanges as a part of “81 Academic Advisors in 81 Provinces” program initiated by TOBB convened at the TOBB 73rd General Assembly.

Academic Advisors met TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu at the end of the General Assembly and expressed their happiness for being a part of the TOBB community.

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out that the world has changed very rapidly and that the “81 Academic Advisors in 81 Provinces” project was initiated to prepare the Turkish private sector.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the project provided significant contributions to the development of both the chambers and commodity exchanges as well as to the careers of the academicians who take party in the project.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that if the chambers and commodity exchanges develop, the cities will benefit and the winner will be Turkey.

Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that chambers and commodity exchanges are the private sector’s leading actors and addressed the academicians, “Every province, each sector has differentiated needs. The main actor of the local development agenda in the new era should be Chambers and Commodity Exchanges. We need to further strengthen our chambers and exchanges. We’ll do this together. We always need the experience of our valued teachers. I thank you for your work.”

It is of utmost importance that both the demands and needs of the business world are monitored closely and that local development agenda is determined in a healthy manner so that the right policies can be designed and the economic targets can be achieved at the local and regional scale.

For this purpose, TOBB initiated the “81 Academic Advisors” project.

Academic Advisors, who contribute to the construction of the institutional capacities of the Chambers and Commodity Exchanges and local data production capacities, are selected through agreement by chairpersons of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges in the provinces.
