Hisarcıklıoğlu takes over B20 presidency

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu has taken office as the Term President of B20, the business arm of the G20. As the B-20 Turkey Executive Council President, TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu has taken over B20 Presidency. ​

In Australia to attend the G20 Leaders Summit and the B20 meetings on the 15th and 16th of November, 2014, Hisarcıklıoğlu took over Term Presidency of the B20 from B20 Australia President Richard.

 

Throughout Hisarcıklıoğlu’s Term Presidency, over 5,000 business community representatives will visit Turkey and discuss the future of the global economy.

 

- Beneficial for all countries

 

Following the handover, meeting with B20 representatives, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “It gives me great pleasure to be taking on the B20 Term Presidency. We began our preparations to successfully undertake this responsibility a long time ago and we have ramped up efforts in recent months. I believe that, with your experience and support, the term presidency of our country will benefit not only G20 countries but all countries.”

 

Inviting all attendees to İstanbul, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We are confident that, with the support of the business community of G20 countries, we will be greatly successful. We must involve the leaders of our business communities as much as possible in the B20 process. It is very important for us to see you in İstanbul and to feel your support throughout Turkey’s B20 Term Presidency.”

 

- 5,000 business community representatives will visit Turkey

 

Reporting that preparations to host over 5,000 business community leaders in Turkey in various activities throughout the year are underway, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The first 6 focus fields have been finalized. There were 5 focus fields during Australia’s term presidency. We will expand on them and go forward with focus on international trade, infrastructure and investments, finances, employment and fight against corruption. Turkey’s most important contribution to B20 will be the formation of a new taskforce in the field of “SMEs and Entrepreneurship”. We will shift B20 away from being monopolized by large multinational companies. SMEs also need the support of G20.”

 

Handing over the B20 Term Presidency to Hisarcıklıoğlu, B20 Australia President Richard Goyder wished Turkey success, “I am confident that throughout their B20 Term Presidency, Turkey and Hisarcıklıoğlu will be very successfully and attain positive results. We are always prepared to provide support and we stand with you.”

 

Attending the B20 Turkey Meeting in Brisbane, Australia, in addition to TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu were TOBB Vice President and İstanbul Chamber of Commerce Chairman İbrahim Çağlar and the İstanbul Chamber of Industry Chairman and B20 Turkey Executive Council Member Erdal Bahçıvan. B20 Turkey Sherpa Sarp Kalkan also gave a presentation on Turkey’s B20 priorities and goals.

 

- Turkey’s mark on G20 Conference

 

The Turkish Delegation left their mark on the G20 Conference taking place prior to the G20 Leaders Summit at the Toronto University in Brisbane. The conference was attended by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu as speakers.

 

B20 Turkey President Hisarcıklıoğlu stated in his speech, "As B20 Turkey, we will be building our efforts on three main principles. These are: Sustainability, inclusivity and interconnectedness. These three principles will aid in forming stronger bonds between B20 and G20, bringing leaders and business to the same frequency.”

 

Also attending the conference were Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan, Minister of the Treasury Mehmet Şimşek, İTO President İbrahim Çağlar and İSO President Erdal Bahçıvan.
