Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

“What is the world talking about? What are we talking about?”

24.04.2014 / Adana

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the Adana Provincial Chambers and Commodity Exchanges Joint Meeting held at the Adana Commodity Exchange.

Reminding that they are celebrating the centennial anniversary of the founding of the Adana Commodity Exchange, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “In actuality it’s not the centennial, but the quincentennial anniversary. Hopefully we will be getting the certificate for that as well. This is also the 12th anniversary of the Chamber of Commerce. Allah Grant us opportunity to render our services.”

Emphasizing that leadership demands foresight, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “You see what you want to. Hope is an absolute must for us. We will be optimistic for hope. This will motivate us. Of course, this does not mean that we will disregard incomplete or poorly executed tasks. We will and we will provide solutions for them.”

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the necessary conditions for the economy to develop in Adana are present and went on, “Adana had a bustling industry when there was none in Turkey. Adana was using industrial machinery before anywhere else in Turkey. Adana has marine transportation. It has an airport, railways and highways. They all converge on Adana. These are the 4 main actors necessary for the development of the economy. Adana has industrial experience, human resources, business potential and strategic position.”

“What is the world talking about? What are we talking about?” said Hisarcıklıoğlu and went on to say that we must focus on the future instead of the present. Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that there are 7 items on the global agenda: the changing financial map of the world, the changing global rules of trade, the changing global energy map, the growth of the middle class, prominence of urbanization in the economy, importance of entrepreneurship in international competition and lastly, the internet becoming the backbone of the economy.”
