“Turkey’s future is here”

04.10.2013 / Ankara

The TOBB University of Economics and Technology (TOBB ETÜ) 2012-2013 graduation ceremony and the initiation of the 2013-2014 academic year ceremony was held with TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu hosting the event.

Speaking at the ceremony which took place at the TOBB ETÜ Sports Hall, TOBB Board of Trustees Chairman Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Our graduates are starting business lives a step ahead of all the graduates of other universities. I am quite proud of them.”

Reminding that he is both the TOBB President and the university’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Sometimes when I’m asked if I would prefer one over the other, my answer is always Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Do you know why? Because the future of Turkey is here. The more I see the things we do here, the prouder I become.”

Addressing the new students of the university, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Those of you just beginning your time here, you’ve entered into a large community but not an easy school. You’ve come to a very difficult school. I’ve always told my teachers to say during registration, ‘Don’t say it’s an easy school, don’t tell them they’ll pass. Tell the truth from the start. You have to have a good grasp of the English language in this school. Tell them all of these things.’ That is why you’re in one of the most difficult universities in Turkey. That is why I see so many of my young friends in good positions or at the head of their own business after they graduate. I am so proud of these.”

Providing advice to the graduating students, the TOBB President stated that a new life was starting for them and that they will stand by them from this point on and urged them to become members of the TOBB ETÜ Alumni Association.

TOBB ETÜ Rector Necip Camuşcu stated that they are proud to be training the workforce the business world needs and reported that the number of students they have is gradually increasing.

During the ceremony attended by the students and their families, students graduating with honors received their presents and diplomas. Students celebrated by throwing their caps into the air.
