Romanian Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Silaghi visited TOBB

The Romanian Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Ovidiu Loan Silaghi, Romanian Undersecretary of Transportation and Infrastructure Valentin-Raducu Preda and Romania’s Ambassador to Ankara, Radu Onofrei visited TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.​

 

During the meeting Hisarcıklıoğlu provided information regarding TOBB’s structure and the Turkish economy while Minister Silaghi expounded on the opportunities regarding the Romanian economy and investment in Romania as well as privatization.

- “The Pendik-Köstence Ro-Ro Route is an important opportunity for both countries”

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that the Pendik-Köstence Ro-Ro Line is an important opportunity for both countries in regards to economies ties and commercial relations. Minister Ovidiu Loan Silaghi stated that after meeting with the Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communication Minister Binali Yıldırım, they have reached an agreement that reactivating the route would be beneficial to both countries and that they would begin work on the issue forthwith.

- “Extending visas to 5 years is very good news but we want them completely gone”

Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Your decision to extend the visas of Turkish businessmen in Romania to 5 years has been met very positively. However we request that the visa obstacle be removed completely,” to which the guest Minister Silaghi replied, “We have found a permanent solution: Turkey becoming a member of the European Union. We have always supported Turkey’s bid to become a EU member from the very start and will continue to do so.”
