TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, congratulating Prof. Dr. Sadık Kakaç of the TOBB ETU Mechanical Engineering Department faculty member for being awarded the world’s most prestigious engineering award, said, “This success has swelled all of our chests. With his contributions to the world of engineering, Dr. Kakaç has become one of a few scientists and has become a great role model for his students.”​

 

The International Network on Engineering Education & Research (iNEER), with 38,000 members in 98 countries, has awarded its most prestigious award, “Leadership in Engineering Education and Research to TOBB ETU Mechanical Engineering Department Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Sadık Kakaç, which he received from the iNEER Secretary General Dr. Win Aung.

The awards ceremony was held in Turku, Finland. Professors and academics from 34 countries attended the ceremony held at a hall built in 1570 and, as per custom, applauded the winners by hammering the wooden tables with their fists.

- Who is Prof. Dr. Sadık Kakaç?

Kakaç, with many accomplishments in the field of research and development, was a faculty member of the Middle East Technical University between 1960 and 1980. Following which, he spent 28 years at the Miami University in the USA after which he returned to Turkey. Prof. Dr. Sadık Kakaç is a faculty member of the TOBB University of Economy and Technology.

Prof. Dr. Sadık Kakaç having formulated an important parameter used in fluidity mechanics, the parameter was called the Kakaç number.
