Composite manufacturers have met at the subcommittee incorporated in the Turkish Chemicals Industry Assembly.

Glassfiber Reinforced Plastics Manufacturers Association Chair of Board İsmail Hakkı Hacıalioğlu was chosen as committee president while Polin Waterparks and Pool Systems General Manager Barış Pakiş and Superlit Pipes and Fittings Vice Chairman Yusuf Önder Eren were chosen as committee vice presidents. At the meeting, the need for developing new boron products and areas of usage also a sector planning based on boron were discussed. ETİ Mine Works General Manager Orhan Yılmaz and National Boron Research Institute Chairman Dr. Şükrü Öztürk attended the meeting and they both gave detailed presentations on boron chemicals.   -ETİ Mine has the first place in the world boron market ETİ Mine General Manager Orhan Yılmaz within his presentation gave information about boron terminology, commercial sides of boron and investment opportunities presenting up to date numbers. Indicating that Turkey has the greatest colemanite reserve in the world, Yılmaz also pointed out that considering the boron reserve distribution of the world, Turkey has the largest value with %72.   Yılmaz stated that unlike the boron speculations reflected in public, with its 4 million ton boron consumption every year, the world resources has enough boron which will last for three hundred years apart from using Turkey’s reserves.   ETİ Mine General Manager Orhan Yılmaz expressing that world boron markets on the basis of value is worth 1,2 – 1,5 billion dollars, added market leadership is in the hands of ETİ Mine with its 37 percentage rate shares since 2005. -“Fiber production is highly critical. There is need for new glass fiber factories.” In the case where boron consuming industry were to develop in our country, Yılmaz said there is a high chance that ETİ Mine will increase its capacity with new investments and areas of usage, since while in 2003 its production rate of boron chemicals were at 436 thousand tons now in the year of 2010 it reached to an higher level of 1,5 million ton.   -“We need to think collectively for sector planning based on boron” National Boron Research Institute (BOREN) Chairman Dr. Şükrü Öztürk defined BOREN as being the strategic and consulting partner of ETİ Mine. Emphasizing boron sources in the hands of public office have reached a successful position as first products owing to accurate and worthy usage, Öztürk also pointed out that for the sustainability of this success there is a need for thinking and reacting collectively.
