475 fairs held in 2017; visitors and exhibitors increased

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) has announced its 2017 exhibition statistics.​

While a total of 426 fairs were organized in the country in 2016, this number increased to 475 in 2017. In 2017, the number of visitors to the fair increased by 3,877,843 compared to the year 2016.

While the fairs organized in 2016 have visited 17,841,871 people, in 2017 this figure has increased to 21,719,714 persons.

Fairs organized in 2016 total 518,140 foreign visitors, in 2017 this number increased to 587,128 people.

In the number of visitors; The fairs in the field of agriculture, greenhouse, livestock and technology with 5,734,213 people were the first and the book and periodicals sector was the second with 4,875,368 visitors. Third place received 1,753,335 visitors with general fairs.

In terms of the number of fairs, the highest was agricultural, greenhouse, livestock technologies sectors; a total of 76 fairs. Following those fairs were education, training equipment and technologies with 39 fairs and 35 fairs in the fields of Heating, cooling, ventilation, natural gas and systems, construction materials, bathroom, kitchen, ceramics, hardware, installations, fittings.

- 197 fairs held in Ä°stanbul

The largest number of fairs was held in Ä°stanbul with 197, while the second was Ankara with 50; third in Izmir with 30 fairs. According to the statistics; most fairs were held in March. Following the 81 exhibitions held in March is October with 63.

While the Izmir International Fair was the most visited fair in 2017, this fair was followed by the 36th Istanbul Book Fair and ARTIST 2017 27th Istanbul Art Fair.
