“Plastic, Rubber and Composite Council of Turkey talked over limitation on shopping bags”

Plastic, Rubber and Composite Council of Turkey convened at TOBB Twin Towers under the chairmanship of Council Chairman Yavuz Eroğlu and participation of The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey Deputy Secretary General Cengiz Delibaş for making sectoral evaluations and developing solution proposals. ​

During the meeting where returns of new “Production Reform Package” and legislations as well as examples for increasing practices of Research and Development Centre had been discussed, a comprehensive presentation given by Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology Department of Industry Head  Alpaslan Murat Yıldız.

 

During the meeting where limitations on shopping bags imposed by Packaging Waste Control Regulations since 2019 and latest regulations had been discussed in detail, Retailers Federation of Turkey President Mustafa Altunbilek stated that news that appeared in the media about plastic bags were reflected inaccurately and they did not adopt anti-plastic position.

 

Stating that they are against banning, Altunbilek also said that they promote the idea of responsible consumption and as plastic and retail sector they would be able to take joint action during that process.

At the meeting, it was underlined that there is one-year transitional stage for the legislation which shall be effective in 2018 and section for bags shall become effective on 01.01.2019.

 

Reviews for importation precautions adopted for Turkish toys sector regarded as indigenisation example, aggregation model and current status carried out. It was also mentioned that thanks to tight controls on imported products, investments within the sector also increased. Head of Department from Ministry of Economy Bumin Kaan Köktürk presented information in relation with the matter.
