Newly appointed to his office, Romanian Ambassador to Turkey, Radu Onofrei visited TOBB. Meeting with the TOBB Secretary General Mustafa Saraçöz, Onofrei related information on anticipated projects aiming to further commercial relations between Turkey and Romania.​

 

- Turkey-Romania Relations

The Ambassador stated that they put great value on Turkey – Romania relations and that they wish to make a new beginning in order to take said relations further as well as saying that Romania has always supported Turkey EU accession process.

Emphasizing regional cooperation, the Ambassador expressed the possibility of cooperating in the fields of transportation, energy, environment and the defense industry.

- Steps will be taken to facilitate the operations of businessmen

Ambassador Onofrei stated that work to facilitate visa procedures was being done and that 5 year visas for Turkish citizens would be available soon.

- Cooperation in regards to the EU’s “Danube Region Sustainable Development Strategy”

Stating that recently, the European Commission has approved a project plan for the sustainable development of the Danube region and its environs, Ambassador Onofrei expressed that it was his goal to develop transportation on the Danube; making cooperation in shipping and navigation viable.

Ambassador Radu Onofrei said that a number of conferences on the subject could be held with TOBB throughout the coming year and that they wished to establish a connection between Constantza Port of Bucharest and Istanbul.
