Support from Emine Erdoğan for project regarding women’s employment

The closing event for “Mobile Solutions’ Address: Women” took place in İstanbul Chamber of Commerce Council Hall with the attendance of Emine Erdoğan.​

The “Mobile Solutions’ Address: Women” Project is brought to life by the TOBB İstanbul Women Entrepreneurs Council under the coordination of the İstanbul Chamber of Commerce and has been awarded funding as a part of the “Program for Increasing the Employment of Women”  aimed at nonprofit organizations by the İstanbul Development Agency.

Emine Erdoğan gave a speech during the ceremony in which the successful participants of the training program received their awards, “Inclusion of women into the economy will accelerate development and give rise to a balanced growth in the economy.” Erdoğan reported that while men’s employment increased by 21% in the last 10 years, women’s employment increased by 52%, “I would like to stress the importance of encouraging women’s entrepreneurship, not just employment.”

Erdoğan said, “The most important point in women’s employment and entrepreneurship is preventing its exploitation. Equal pay must be protected. We must ensure equality among sexes.”

İstanbul Chamber of Commerce Chair İbrahim Çağlar stated that, “Women are of great importance in the development of society.” Çağlar stressed the importance of women’s sensitivity and organization abilities; pointing out the fact that women are not involved in the job market and entrepreneurship.

TOBB İstanbul Women Entrepreneurs Council Chair and Marmara Region Representative Hatice Güner Kal provided information regarding the TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council founded by TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.

As a part of the project 41 women were trained in-house while 100 were trained remotely in order to participate in the mobile tech industry via a 180 hour course with an additional 40 hours of training aiming to increase the women work force, capacity and women’s entrepreneurship.

Three project which were elected for awards were “ANKA Sessiz Çığlık” by Ayça Tüzmen Yıldırım, “Dip Köşe by Buse Tekin and Elif Oymak and “Akıllı Arkadaşım” by Emine Mine.

Attending the ceremony were approximately 400 people with TOBB Bilecik KGK Chair Hülya Esel, TOBB Bursa KGK Chair Nurcan Özdemir, TOBB Düzce KGK Chair Yasemin Karslıoğlu, TOBB Kocaeli KGK Chair Bahar Baykal and Council Members, TOBB Yalova KGK Chair Zuhal Karakoyun and Council Members and members of the TOBB İstanbul KGK.
