TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu met with the Poland Permanent Representative to the EU, Ambassador Jerzy Drozdz, during his contacts in Belgium.
During meeting conducted in European Union Term Presidential capacity, Turkey-EU relations, the negotiation process, visas and free trade agreements, transport quotas were discussed.
Expressing Poland’s support for Turkey’s EU membership, Ambassador Drozdz said, “We will put effort into opening new chapter or chapters for negotiations with Turkey. In the process, we expect support on all levels from the EU for Turkey.”
TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that in the Turkey-EU negotiations, chapters for which Turkey is technically ready for, like Education, Culture, Economy and Fiscal Policies and Energy Chapters, are never brought up but costly and difficult chapters are always brought up with no indication of acceptance. He went on to say that constructive and solution-oriented efforts must be shown.
