Turkey Small and Medium Sized Contracting Council convened in Ankara with Bekir Adıyaman presiding. During the meeting council members were informed regarding the changes to the Clause 4708 of the Structure Inspection Law, sector representatives demanded that all buildings be subject to structure inspections.​

 

Reminding that one of the changes to the clause was that settlements with less than 5000 population would be exempt from structure inspections, council members emphasized that it was the government’s responsibility to protect all of its citizens’ lives and property.

It was touched upon that there was no way of guaranteeing that settlements with less than 5000 population would not be struck by earthquakes and that there would be no structural damage which might result in casualties, it was emphasized that all buildings without exception should be undergoing structure inspection. Turkey Small and Medium Sized Contracting Council President Bekir Adıyamam said, “Every structure that houses people should be subject to inspection,” and stated the importance of human life. Adıyaman stated that private sector representatives must be given seats on the central and provincial commissions established as per the changes to the legislation.
