"We want to increase cooperation in Qatar"

TOBB Board Member Necdet Özer represented TOBB during the Qatar visit coordinated by the Economy Ministry and organized by TİM on the 19th and 20th of April, 2014. Attending the Turkey – Qatar Business Forum, TOBB Board Member Necdet Özer stated that the cards for the global economic system were being re-dealt, “The dynamics of the global economy are rapidly changing. New strong regional partnerships are forming.”​

Özer touched on the subjects of the Federation of GCC Chambers; the second Turkey and Gulf Investment and Business Forum to be held on June 9th-10th in Bahrain; the emergence of two new trade blocks as found in TTP and TTIP.

 

Reminding that it is necessary for the 47 of 57 Islamic countries to sign the TPS-OIC, Necdet Özer emphasized that it is imperative for removing obstacles to trade and increasing commerce so that they all could prosper.

 

Özer stressed the need to complete the ongoing free trade negotiations, pointing out the importance of Turkey and Qatar’s cooperation for the prosperity and stability of the whole region. “The facilitation of work quotas, local sponsors, mandatory partnerships and long public tender procedures will reflect positively on our relations.”

 

Also speaking during the Forum were Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekçi and the Qatari Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassim Al Thani.

 

Özer also attended bilateral talks with Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekçi, TİM Deputy President Mustafa Çıkrıkçıoğlu, Qatar Investment Authority Chairman Ahmed Al Sayede, Qatari Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar 2022 High Committee Chair Hassan Al Thawadi and Ashgal Public Administration Authority Chairman Nasser Bin Ali Al Mawlawi.

 

Afterwards, TOBB Board Member Necdet Özer attended the dinner held by Qatari Businessmen’s Association along with the Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekçi and the Turkish business delegation.
