26.08.2011 /

The Turkey Glass and Glass Products Industry Council convened at the Istanbul TOBB Service building to discuss the waste glass disposal legislation. Council members stated that the disposal of waste glass was one of the industry’s most significant problems and as a result of investigations into the matter decided to partake in the necessary study and relay the results to the relevant ministries.

During the meeting Şişecam Glass Research Center authorities provided a briefing on “Hazardous Waste Control Communique” and “Repurposing of Various Non-Hazardous Materials Communique” as part of the “Main Principles of the Waste Management Communique”. Stating that glass was not a hazardous material as long as it was not contaminated with hazardous materials, the representatives underscored that the present legislation put the sector under undue pressure.
