05.05.2011 / Ankara

Following the armed attack on Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s security detail after his meeting in Kastamonu, in which a security officer was killed and a policeman was wounded, the President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated today that terrorism has once again reared its ugly head for all to see.

Stating that Turkey is a exemplary and model country in its region, he sees these attacks as a threat to stability and peace, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the best answer to these attacks by persons lacking in humane values and terrorist groups is to firmly embrace our unity and solidarity.

In his speech Hisarcıklıoğlu said;
“We are confident in our government’s ability to find the culprits of these attacks and the forces who support them. We need only act as one; as a people with our political will, military, security forces and NGO’s in unity and solidarity. We must stand united as a nation against these attacks, denounce and damn acts of terrorism.

"On behalf of the Board of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey and Turkish business world I vehemently condemn this heinous attack.

I pray for Allah’s grace and mercy for our martyred security officer. I offer my condolences to our heroic security forces and the martyr’s family and I hope for a fast recovery of our wounded policeman.”
