In his speech at the ceremony, which took place in the social facilities of TOBB ETU, TOBB President and the President of the board of trustees of TOBB ETU, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated, “This is most assuredly a special day for us. It gives us great pleasure and honor to present to Mr. Almazbek Atambayev, esteemed Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, a country with which we share bonds of friendship and history, with an Honorary Doctorate degree of TOBB University of Economics and Technology in International Affairs for his peerless leadership in international affairs and active work in this field.”

TOBB President and the President of the board of trustees of TOBB ETU, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu went on to say, “Oil and natural gas may bring riches to governments but in order to enrich the people we must endorse trade and investments. You can make this possible, there are business councils on both ends and we will come whenever you call for us. It is an honor to present you with this honorary doctorate.”

The Honorary Doctorate diploma was presented to Kyrgyzstan Prime Minister Almazbek Atambayev by TOBB ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Altunbaşak while TOBB President and the President of the board of trustees of TOBB ETU, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu vested him with his robes.

After receiving his diploma and robe from Hisarcıklıoğlu, Kyrgyzstan Prime Minister Atambayev gave a speech in which he stated that he was very happy and excited to be in Turkey. Citing examples of Turk-Kyrgyz friendship throughout history, Atambayev went on to say “We are all Turks, our history is one.” He also expressed his joy that with the lifting of visa procedures and stated, “I believe that in the future the need for visas between not only Turkey and Kyrgyzstan but all Turkish nations will be lifted and we will establish The Turkish Union.”
