TOBB Turkey Food and Beverage Industry Councils came together in a joint meeting. The meeting, taking place in TOBB Istanbul Service Building, was presided by Turkey Beverage Industry Council President Feyhan Yaşar and Turkey Food Industry Council President Necdet Buzbaş and emphasized the importance of strengthening bonds between the sector councils.​

Sector representatives emphasized that the food and beverage councils could not be thought of separately and emphasized the importance of unity. In the joint meeting, it was stated that the news in the media about Starch Based Sugars did not reflect the truth and the examples given were wrong.The Beverage Council Counselor has established two separate committees at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in order to contest erroneous claims in the media which could damage the sector. After the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs views are prepared the Ministers will make a joint announcement on the subject. Turkey Food Industry Council President Necdet Buzbaş discussed the optimal strategy for confronting these manners of incidents. Food Industry Council Vice-President Rint Akyüz stated that the food and beverage sectors are Turkey’s rising values of the moment, that the media should take better care while presenting news about health and food. Speaking about that the lack of media personnel knowledgeable about the sector, Akyüz stated that there should be editors about these sectors. - Platform to enlighten the consumer established Beverage Industry Council President Feyhan Yaşar informed the attending representatives about the decision to establish a platform to enlighten and inform the consumers. Food Industry Council President Necdet Buzbaş emphasized the need for crisis management for the food and beverage sectors and lauded the Consumer Awareness Platform as a social responsibility project to be implemented when there is no crisis.
