Turkey’s success in overcoming 2001 crisis became a model for Ireland

Ireland Ambassador to Turkey Tom Russell, visited the President of TOBB, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, at TOBB headquarters. The President and the Ambassador made a discussion regarding the economy. ​

Ambassador Russell indicated that the Irish economy has begun to shrink  over the last few years due to problems in the banking and financial sectors. He said  that to get out of the crisis there are successful models in front of them and  Turkey is one of the underlined examples of the successful which overcame the 2001 crisis victoriously.


Hisarciklioglu told during the discussion with the Ambassador that private sectors  plays an important role to overcome the difficulties of the global crisis. He added that Turkey can share its experience acknowledged during the crisis. In the meeting, the Ambassador gave information to the President about the general election that was held in February in Ireland.
